Radiation caries was formally recognized in 2019. It was given the medical diagnostic code K02.62. Radiation caries usually occurs from the medical radiation utilized to treat cancers of the head and neck. Radiation caries is not well recognized by the medical and the dental community. This presentation is meant to allow for a better understanding of radiation caries along with other potential negative outcomes from medical radiation treatments.
