Friday, June 16, 2023
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM PST
Location: Yakima 1
CE Credits: 1.5
Primary Audience(s): Dentist
Additional Audience(s): Hygienist, EFDA/Dental Assistant, Front Office
Participants will be led through immediate utilization of customizable Treatment Guides and Modes of Treatment Delivery sheets to best explain risks, benefits, and options to parents. These resources will help parents understand the importance of prevention and minimally invasive treatment to avoid more involved and potentially emergent care.
Common pharmacology for children will be reviewed in conjunction with a guide to help understand medical conditions most frequently associated with specific medications. The back side of the sheet reviews the most common medications and dispensing guidelines for dentists who see children.
The Baby Oral Health Program, created by Dr. Rocio QuiƱonez, is a free resource that best comprehensively guides early appointments for optimal prevention. This is singularly the most effective resource to developing a prevention-based practice starting with the emergence of the first tooth.
Learning Objectives:
Teach their team how to compare medications on a medical history with Common Meds Guide to best understand potential medical issues.
Edit and enhance a Treatment Guide to use as a tool for review of R/B/Os and obtaining true informed consent.
Edit and enhance an editable Modes of Care Guide to ensure parents understand options available to set realistic expectations and decrease liability.
Train their team to deliver the bOHP anticipatory guidance to set parents and children up for optimal oral health.
Take the bOHP CE and be listed as a bOHP provider online.
Confidently deliver all options for restorative care available for children.
Confidently accept every new patient with the emergence of the first tooth forward.
Ensure their recommendations for infants and toddlers are consistent with evidence-based science.
