This practical course is tailored for novice and experienced dentists who want to know how to better, safer and more efficiently treat pediatric and geriatric patients. Learn how to ideally pulp test, anesthetize, rubber dam isolate, instrument (including calcified and curved canals such as MB2), safely irrigate and obturate. Special attention will be paid to management of open apices. Many clinical tips and tricks will be discussed along with medical and dental considerations specific for the very young and old. These will include management of very large vs. calcified canals, treatment planning, dental trauma management, pre and post treatment medications (analgesics and antibiotics), and restoration of endo treated teeth.
Learning Objectives:
Know how to instrument, medicate, obturate and restore teeth with immature apices, calcified and curved canals (including MB2) and prevention and management of endo complications.
Understand pre and post treatment medication protocols (antibiotics, analgesics) and drug interactions in young and old patients.
Understand treatment protocols for dental trauma, facial swellings, and when to endo vs. exo/implant.
Perform SINGLE VISIT ENDO (why, when and how).
Safely and effectively irrigate and medicate calcified canals and roots with open apices and how to prevent extrusions / hypochlorite accidents.
Know the benefits of laser activated irrigation and debridement in this population.
