Loupes Around The World was founded in 2007 by Dr. David Knight. The foundation's objective is to provide loupes to surgeons in developing countries who do not have the means to obtain them, and whose patients will benefit from more precise surgery. We developed a repurposing program (“Recoup The Loupes”) in conjunction with Designs For Vision (DFV) through which surgeons and dentists can donate their old loupes. Donated DFV loupes have their magnifiers removed and placed back into new lenses and frames. They are then donated to designated surgeons. We welcome the donation of loupes from any manufacturer. We also supply adjustable loupes in certain circumstances. We have worked with a variety of NGOs to identify potential recipients and we also receive requests through our website. As of April 2023, we have provided over 650 loupes to surgeons in 47 countries. Loupes Around The World is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)3 organization and donated loupes are eligible for a tax deduction as a charitable contribution.
