I submitted 86 hours of CE in February 2021 in order to renew my WA state dental license. The vast majority of these CE hours involved the subject of throat cancer. Topics included the etiology of throat cancer, treatment protocols, and the outcomes of treatment regimens. I particularly focused on the subject of "radiation caries." In 2018, I received seven weeks of medical radiation treatments in order to treat my throat cancer. This treatment was successful, but three of my teeth were so damaged by the medical radiation that they required full crown restorations. Before my medical radiation treatments began, I was completely unaware that this could happen to my teeth from the medical radiation utilized to treat my throat cancer and none of the medical professionals who treated me warned me about this potential negative outcome. This is not a criticism of anyone, but simply an attempt to inform.
